KUSASI YOUTH BREACHED THE "NO TO GUNS" AGREEMENT REACHED IN TAMALE

We the Mamprugu Youth wish to condemn in no uncertain terms the Kusasi youth's breach of the "NO TO GUNS" pact reached at Tamale on 12th September 2022.

The "NO TO GUNS" pact was an initiative that was spearheaded by the Honorable Ministers of Defence and Interior and the Acting Coordinator of National Security. The meeting was held between the youth of the Mamprusis and Kusasis at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale and an agreement was reached by both youth groups to work towards silencing the guns in Bawku.

However, to our dismay and that of other stakeholders, immediately after the meeting, Kusasi Youth released over a dozen audios threatening to continue the gun violence. To them, their leaders had betrayed them, and they would continue to make use of the weapons their leaders bought for them until they "wipe" Mamprusis out of Bawku.

True to the their words, at about 15:00 today, Kusasi Youth from Sabon Gàri attacked a group of Mamprusi Youth preparing for the Asr prayer at Nyorugu. The attack injured one person by name Ibrahim who is currently receiving treatment at the Bawku hospital.

To us, this is a direct breach of the peace pact that was initiated by both parties under the auspices of the Defence, Interior ministers, and National Security Coordinator. It is our hope that the security agencies will move in quickly to arrest the perpetrators of this terrorist attack by the Kusasi Youth.
