RE: ADAM-GH MET WITH GHANA ARMED FORCES
Our attention has been drawn to a circulating press release issued by a group calling itself ADAM-GH in reference to its purported meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff in Accra. The purpose of the meeting, according to ADAM-GH, was to resolve issues among which were complaints of alleged military brutalities in Bawku.
First, we appreciate the interest with which the Military Command has attached to issues regarding the operations of their men in Bawku and the need to engage civil society organizations on the way forward. However, considering the fact that the group ADAM-GH has in recent times proven to be a discredited organization championing the ethnocentric agenda of its executive secretary Emmanuel Azubilla, we wish to make the following observations to serve as a guide to the Military High Command and the general public.
1. Since the recent eruption of violence in Bawku, ADAM-GH which purports to be a civil society organization has without shame taken sides in the conflict. They have, through a series of press statements made intemperate inciting comments not conducive to peace and reconciliation.
We have exposed their biased ethnocentric agenda in our detailed response to their petition to the IGP. We recommend you kindly follow the link attached (https://3news.com/ignore-adam-ghs-defamatory-inaccurate-ethnocentric-petition-mamprugu-youth-to-igp/) to acquaint yourselves with their unprofessional and shameful conduct.
2. On the issue of the alleged military brutalities and the unprofessional conduct of ADAM-GH, we expect them to be apologizing to the military personnel especially those who were injured in the line of duty. In their press statement of 17th March 2022 following the shooting of the military officers by Kusasi bandits, ADAM-GH headed its Press release as "THE FACTS AVAILABLE TO ADAM-GH SUGGESTS THAT THE SECURITY IN BAWKU (MILITARY) HAVE INTEREST IN BAWKU CHIEFTAINCY CONFLICT". This heading by ADAM-GH which accused the military command of pure bias and their further statements like justifying the shooting of innocent soldiers deployed to maintain peace is enough reason for all state institutions as well as other civil society organizations to disregard any correspondence from ADAM-GH. We further urge all relevant stakeholders to treat ADAM-GH as an appendage of the Kusasi Youth group such as the Kusasi Youth Movement and Kusasi Youth Association that have been unleashing terror and violence on innocent lives in Bawku since 1985.
3. Our attention has further been drawn to a paragraph in the said press release by ADAM-GH where it quotes the military high command as saying it intends to implement a certain Supreme Court ruling. We are not certain this was really said by the military command but we wish to humbly remind the command that there was no such ruling given by the Supreme Court with regards to the Bawku chieftaincy crisis. It is in this regard that the Nayiri of Mamprugu has formally written to the President denying the existence of any such ruling whilst stressing his commitment to peace in the area.
4. We humbly wish to remind the military high command to adopt the approach by the Minister for National Security Hon Albert Kan Dapaah when he appeared in Parliament on 4th April 2022. In answering a question about the so-called Supreme Court ruling, the Honorable Minister declined to make any comment. In fact, he considered it to be an issue under contention and hence inappropriate for him to make a pronouncement on it. This is the stand we wish to urge public officers to take to avoid comments that have the tendency of derailing the peace process.
We conclude by thanking the military high command for its commitment to ensuring peace and security in Bawku. It is our hope that the command and the general public will disregard cunning attempts by ADAM-GH of tricking people/institutions into falling for their ethnocentric agenda.
